The Olof Palme Memorial Fund for International Understanding and Common Security was established in March 1986 by Olof Palme's family and the Social Democratic Party Board to honor his memory.

Memorial Day 28 February 2026

Saturday 28 February marked 40 years since Olof Palme was assassinated. Many people gathered at Adolf Fredrik's cemetery to remember and lay flowers on the grave. Among them were the chairman of the memorial fund, Stefan Löfven, party chairman Magdalena Andersson, and the former chairmen Ingvar Carlsson, Göran Persson, Mona Sahlin and Håkan Juholt. The sons Joakim and Mattias Palme were also there, along with a steady stream of people.
